Fanatix looks back on a season so horrifying, Liverpool fans might think it more a nightmare than reality.
Overview
After such a stunning 2013-14 where the Reds fell agonisingly close to a first ever Premier League title, a lot was expected after a summer of serious investment, despite the sale of star-man Luis Suarez.
If we’re being honest perhaps no word will sum up how disappointing this campaign has been for the Reds, but maybe devastating goes some way to defining a monumentally catastrophic campaign.
There were no trophies to speak of to any extent. Liverpool were nowhere near winning the Premier League, they lost in the League Cup semi-final to Chelsea, they crashed out of the FA Cup to Aston Villa at Wembley and were an embarrassment in the Champions League.

Transfer dealings
An almost universally terrible transfer window for Liverpool, saved only by the obvious potential of Alberto Moreno and Emre Can but even they failed to live up to their billing in this self-inflicted inferno of a football season.
An incredible £117 million was spent on talent, so called, in the summer window by the Merseyside club and what do they have to show for it?
Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert were meant to be Premier League ready but that turned out to be a bust.
Lazar Markovic appears to have been misguided but perhaps a whole other word needs to be create for the incredible, almost maniacal transfer of Mario Balotelli who has been nothing short of disaster since his move to Anfield.
