Premier League side Liverpool fear that their star striker Luis Suarez will not be given enough time to recuperate from his knee-operation as Uruguay are set to take a risk with their main centre-forward.
The South American side are desperate to field Suarez at the World Cup finals starting next month, and the national team’s doctor is trying all he can to push the limits and get the 27-year old fit in time before Uruguay’s first game against England on 19th June.
Suarez has made himself indispensable to the Reds with a superb campaign for them this season netting 31 goals in all competitions this term, and Liverpool do not want their marquee player to be risked at the cost of aggravating his injury.
Suarez’s lateral meniscus tear would normally take 6 weeks to heal fully, but a premature return could see him struggle to get back to full fitness before next season if he suffers another setback at the World Cup.
