Reds want Clyne and Lallana…

Liverpool are readying a huge £40m double move for Southampton pair Adam Lallana and young right-back Nathaniel Clyne, reports the Daily Star.
The Reds already made a £20m bid for midfield ace and Saints skipper Lallana two weeks ago, but it’s thought that Mauricio Pochettino’s side want at least £25m for their best player.
The 26-year-old midfielder enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with the Saints, scoring nine goals and assisting six others. He prides himself on his superb technical ability, his passing, and his ability to drive through the centre of the park. His form earned him a place in Roy Hodgson’s England World Cup squad this summer, and it could also see him make the first mega money move of his career.
Liverpool have also been linked with their central defender Dejan Lovren following his excellent debut Premier League season, but are now being linked with 23-year-old Clyne as well.
Clyne plays on the right of Southampton’s back four, and while he doesn’t get the plaudits Luke Shaw does on the opposite flank, he arguably had just an impressive a season.
Liverpool have England’s first-choice right-back Glen Johnson currently starting, but reports claim that negotiations to extend his contract have stalled.
Clyne would be a solid replacement or rotation option. His defensive qualities are arguably better than Johnson’s although he doesn’t provide the same attacking threat as Liverpool’s 29-year-old.
Injuries restricted Clyne to 20 Premier League starts, but at 23-years-old, he has the potential to develop into one of the country’s leading fullbacks – and ironically – could eventually replace Johnson in the England team as well.
