Liverpool are putting together a package deal for 18 year old MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, and are set to beat Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature.
Liverpool are leading the chase for highly rated MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, who is being dubbed the next Steven Gerrard, reports the Daily Star.
The 18-year old is also being chased by the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has run several personal checks on the midfielder since last season, and is impressed enough to push for a deal this summer.
Although the League One player may not be ready to break into Liverpool’s first team just yet, Rodgers is convinced of the player’s massive potential and is ready to offer up to £8 million pounds including bonuses, with an initial down payment of £3.5 million.
MK Dons coach Karl Robinson reportedly shares a close rapport with Brendan Rodgers and also rates his young superstar very highly.
“He is one of the most gifted 17-year-olds this country has ever seen,” said Robinson before the youngster’s 18th birthday in April.
“I’ve said from the word go, he’s as good as it gets and he’s the best young player I’ve ever worked with.”
If Alli can produce half the career of Steven Gerrard, he will prove a very fine investment indeed.
