Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could miss the start of next season as he recovers from the shoulder operation that he underwent back in May, reports the Sun.
The England international, who is also skipper of the Three Lions, was on course to play in every single minute of the entire Premier League campaign last time out for the very first time in his illustrious 15-year career at Anfield.
However, when it became clear that the Reds had nothing left to play for in the season, the club opted to bring forward the 33-year-old’s operation on his longstanding shoulder problem from the summer to May.
But, despite that it still appears as though the midfield player is likely to be absent from both Liverpool’s pre season, as well as the start to the new campaign, as the player continues his recovery from the shoulder surgery.
Gerrard played in 35 top-flight contests last season, scoring nine goals for his club.
