Last season’s title contenders had either been looking to leave the legendary ground or redevelop it, and the club have apparently now been given the green light.
The £100m development will see the stadium’s capacity increased by 8,000 from the current 45,500 to 53,500.
The current capacity will remain the same as works are scheduled to come to a close at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.
Liverpool will look to recover the cost as quickly as possible so will include 4,500 corporate seats in the redevelopment.
