Liverpool’s in form captain Steven Gerrard wants his club to secure manager Brendan Rodgers for the foreseeable future, reports BBC Sport.
The Reds will go one point behind league leaders Chelsea if they win their game in hand, and fans and pundits alike have been mightily impressed with the ultra attacking style Rodgers has implemented at Anfield.
“He is a young coach who has earned the right to become Liverpool manager and from week to week he is improving,” Gerrard added, two days he bagged two penalties during a 3-0 battering of Manchester United on Sunday.
“We are absolutely delighted he is here and I just hope there is a lot of movement as we speak because they have got to get him signed up as soon as possible.”
No club in European football has scored more goals than Liverpool this term, and the attacking trio of Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have been especially outstanding.
“He has been a revelation,” Gerrard continued.
“He keeps tinkering and tweaking formations, making little changes to personnel and pulls it off.
“You go out feeling full of confidence and belief. His one-on-one management is the best I’ve known.”
This is high praise indeed considering Gerrard has worked under Rafa Benitez, Gerard Houllier, Fabio Capello and Sven Goran Eriksen to name but a few during his illustrious career…
Liverpool face Cardiff away from home next weekend, and will hope their rivals Chelsea qualify for the Champions League quarter finals this evening, so their attention is focussed elsewhere.
