Pepe Reina insists he is happy at Anfield and has no desire to return to former club.
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has insisted that he is happy to stay at the club, despite interest from former employers Barcelona.
Spain’s third choice keeper has been suggested as a replacement for want-away Barca stopper Victor Valdes, who expected to leave the Nou Camp this year after publicly refusing to sign a new contract.
However Reina told the Belfast Telegraph that he has np interest in returning to his former club.
“I have three more years with Liverpool,” Reina explained.
“I’m satisfied, comfortable and my family are very happy.
“Rumours are difficult to control but it’s flattering when a club like Barca are interested in you.”
The 31-year old’s contract expires in 2016, and with boss Brendan Rodgers in the middle of a hefty rebuilding operation at Anfield, Reina may be seen as a veteran figure who could play an important role in the dressing room as well as on the field.
This stand of allegiance will go a long way to cementing the former Villareal star’s spot as the number one choice between the sticks next season, after he suffered from inconsistent form throughout this Premier League campaign.
