The Reds could sign Arda Turan before the transfer window closes…
Liverpool have stepped up their chase of Atletico Madrid’s Turkish winger Arda Turan, reports Spanish publication AS.
The 26-year-old scored five and assisted eight in all competitions for the La Liga club last season, and has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool for the past two seasons.
The Turkish winger enjoys taking on a fullback, and is capable of cutting in and using his right foot, or going on the outside and providing telling crosses for on-running forwards.
His agent, Ahmet Bulat, is convinced that moving his client to a Premier League club remains the most realistic transfer option.
“The transfer of Arda to the Premier this summer is likely. In England is where most interest is in he and they know well the position of Athletic. They know that Atletico are rejecting all offers for him, but that if they pay the clause nothing can do. There have been contacts,” he said.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add proven quality to his side, and needs to recruit a new winger after selling Stewart Downing to West Ham. Liverpool have been heavily linked with Brazilian winger Willian, and are expected to submit a formal offer to Anzhi Makhachkala in the coming days, regardless of the potential Turan deal.
