The former Chelsea man has had a torrid time with injuries this season, with some feeling that his time with England could be affecting the problem.
Hodgson, however, responded by saying: “It was unfortunate that Daniel got injured as he did. But he’s had a few injuries since then and I don’t think they were down to us.
“Are the three muscle injuries he has picked up this season all down to England? I don’t think so.
“Daniel has had a period of time where he has been plagued by injuries, so I am pleased he’s fit again and back playing.
“But I didn’t know Daniel needed a special programme. If he does, we will take it into account. I wasn’t aware that he had a special programme. If we are told that he does then we will take that into consideration.”
