Tiago Ilori could move to La Liga to gain first-team experience…
La Liga side Valencia want to take Liverpool’s summer signing Tiago Ilori on loan when the transfer window opens in January, reports Portuguese publication Record.
The 20-year-old joined from Sporting Lisbon for a £7m fee in the summer, but has had to be content with a bench role so far.
Valencia will approach the Reds about securing a six month loan deal for the youngster, although it is unsure whether Liverpool will want to send Ilori away so soon after he arrived at the club.
The Spanish club need another centre-back with Adil Rami almost definitely leaving at the turn of the year, and think Ilori would be an affordable short-term replacement.
Liverpool are unlikely to have any intention of actually selling the defender, having spent virtually the whole summer trying to lure the young stopper to Anfield, but could be open to allowing him to leave on loan. He has only made one brief substitute appearance so far for his new club, due to the impressive form of Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure; and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers might be tempted to let Ilori pick up some first-team experience in Spain.
The defender is known for his impressive speed, and his cultured ability with the ball at his feet. His technical attributes should suit the Spanish league well, although Rodgers might want to keep him at Anfield should one of his senior defenders pick up an injury.
