Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson may have received the biggest possible bump from one of the world’s biggest sports stars in his bid to be the FIFA 16 cover athlete.
Cleveland Cavaliers basketball megastar LeBron James made his vote for Henderson official on his Facebook account. With 21 million fans of his on Facebook, the two-time Olympic Gold medalist and four-time NBA MVP would undoubtedly provide an unprecedented boost for Henderson among voters in the United States – a nation with a much larger video game-playing population than England.
The bump from LeBron will likely seal Henderson’s spot in his bid to be the next FIFA cover athlete, a race he was competing in against the likes of Tottenham scoring sensation Harry Kane, Man City Sergio Aguero (the Premier League’s leading scorer) and Chelsea star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
James, a former cover athlete in his own right for a different sports game (NBA 2K14), is a massive Liverpool fan and just so happens to be a minority shareholder in Liverpool as well.
