According to the Daily Mirror, Pjanic could prove too expensive for the Reds at around £37m, with Roma understandably keen to keep hold of the talented Bosnian international.
Carvalho has long been linked with a host of top clubs, with Arsenal believed to be his main admirers, though Liverpool’s need for a midfielder could see them join the running.
Pjanic had been one of the main targets for Brendan Rodgers, but the Northern Irishman could look to the Portuguese starlet now as a replacement for Steven Gerrard.
