Cheryshev is yet to make a league appearance for Real Madrid, but impressed on loan at Villarreal last season scoring four goals in 26 appearances in La Liga.
According to The Sun, the Reds are contemplating making a £14m move for the Russia international.
The 24-year-old moved to Spain at the age of five after his father Dmitri signed a deal with Sporting Gijon, but it now appears he is ready for a move abroad with it looking unlikely that he will break into Real Madrid’s star-studded squad.
Liverpool are believed to be looking for a replacement for Raheem Sterling, with Manchester City and Chelsea both reported to be looking to lure the England international away from Anfield.
The Reds value Sterling at £50m and have recently turned down a £40m bid, with Daily Star reporting that both City and Chelsea are unwilling to pay more than £40m.
