Liverpool the favourites to sign Aston Villa star after agent gives exit hint.
Aston Villa star Andreas Weimann has already received offers from the Premier League, according to his agent, with Liverpool the strongest club linked.
“Andi will stay in the Premier League but at which club I don’t know,” said Rob Groener, the player’s representative to the Metro.
“There are offers but we’ll first meet Villa.”
Weimann’s contract expires at the end of next season, and it seems after a fine campaign personally in a disappointing one for the club that he is considering his options.
“The club and I agreed to no more talks until it was certain we were safe,” said Weimann earlier in the season.
Liverpool are named by the Metro as the most likely destination for the Austrian, and whilst initially hard to see where Weimann will fit in at Anfield, the 21 year-old’s versatility puts him in good stead.
Capable of playing as a forward, in attacking midfield or on either wing, Weimann has scored seven goals and provided two assists for his team-mates this season.
He could thrive alongside better team-mates, with only Christian Benteke also performing well in the attacking line for Villa.
Given that Liverpool’s options include Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard, Weimann could both improve personally and be a useful option for the team.
