Brendan Rodgers hopes to cash in on his long-standing relationship with Jose Mourinho.
Liverpool are hoping to tie up a season-long loan move for Chelsea winger Victor Moses before the transfer window closes.
The Reds are well stocked in wide areas but manager Brendan Rodgers reportedly wants the 22-year-old to fill the void left by Stewart Downing following the England international’s move to West Ham earlier this month and provide direct competition for youngster Raheem Sterling.
Rodgers will attempt to haggle down the £2 million loan fee demanded by the west London club for Moses and balked at matching his £55,000-a-week wages, with the Daily Mail implying that he could utilise his close relationship with Jose Mourinho to reach a compromise before the deadline on September 2.
Despite travelling with the Blues squad to Old Trafford for Monday night’s clash with Manchester United, the Nigerian international has been informed that he can leave Stamford Bridge but the chances of concluding a permanent switch are slim.
Already battling with Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Andre Schurrle and Oscar for a spot in Chelsea’s attacking armada, Moses, who is yet to make an appearance for the club this season, faces even stiffer competition after the £30m arrival of Brazilian star Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala.
