The Reds have named their price for the superstar Uruguayan.
Real Madrid have been told by Liverpool that it will cost upwards of £80m to tempt them into selling Luis Suarez this summer, according to Spanish publication Marca.
Los Merengues have been interested in acquiring the Uruguay international for the past 18 months, although in 2013 put their efforts into signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur instead.
Having bought Bale for a world record £85.3m 12 months ago Madrid can now turn their attention to Suarez, but the Reds have said it could cost as much to sign the 27-year-old.
The President at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Florentino Perez, is keen to keep up the club’s ‘galaticos’ policy and after scoring 31 Premier League goals in 33 appearances last term and winning the PFA Player of the Year, the Merseysiders ace fits that bill.
Suarez was keen to leave Anfield last summer and Arsenal even made an approach for the forward, offering £40m plus one pound to activate a clause that turned out not to exist.
Yet manager Brendan Rodgers has since managed to turn things around and the Uruguayan cuts a much happier figure at the club currently.
Suarez’s form helped the side to second in the English top tier in 2013/14 and therefore a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009.
However, it’s still thought that an offer from Madrid would tempt the attacker into leaving Merseyside and Perez and head coach Carlo Ancelotti now know the price if they want to ensure that move happens.
