The Daily Mirror reports that whilst United feel they can exploit Depay’s relationship with Louis van Gaal to acquire his services, Liverpool too have a trick up their sleeve.
The Reds scouted the player a couple of seasons ago and have since kept up a good relationship with both the player and his agent.
The report also states the club have sent representatives to PSV every month this season and that they also met with his agent, Alex Kroes, several times this past week watching his last appearance for the Dutch club along with Kroes.
Tottenham also are in for the 21-year-old who have asked to be informed on his situation but Liverpool are said to be favourites.
Ronald Koeman has said Depay is the “biggest talent in the Netherlands” after he started for Holland during the World Cup last summer.
