Liverpool will complete a deal for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke on Wednesday, according to reports.
Benteke has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, and The Mirror reports the Belgian completed his medical in London on Tuesday and will be confirmed as a Liverpool player today.
The 24-year-old will join Brazilian new boy Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini at Melwood for pre-season training, according to the report.
At £32.5m, Benteke will become Liverpool’s second most expensive signing in history, but is a much-needed signing after the Reds struggled for goals last term following the departure of Luis Suarez.
The former Genk man has an impressive goalscoring record in the Premier League, with 42 goals in 88 appearances with Aston Villa since joining the club in 2012.
Benteke has also been solid at international level, scoring seven goals in 24 matches for Belgium.
