Liverpool to make £18m offer to Barcelona midfielder
According to The Mirror, Liverpool had a £22m bid for the Belgian rejected previously, however it is believed the Reds will increase its offer to £25m.
The latest proposed offer still falls short of Benteke’s £32.5m buyout clause, however Liverpool bosses hope an increased offer will tempt the Villans into selling its most prized possession.
The Mirror’s report suggests Benteke wants out of Villa Park, and a bid close to the 24-year-old’s valuation culd push the Midlands club into cashing-in on the former Standard Liege attacker.
Liverpool are understood to be keeping tabs of Sevilla star Carlos Bacca, but the capture of Benteke still remains the club’s priority.
The Reds finalised the signing of Brazil star Roberto Firmino on Wednesday and have reportedly agreed a £12.5m fee for Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
