Liverpool are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The Reds are understood to have had a £17.7m bid rejected for the Croatian earlier this summer.
But Italian publication Gazetta dello Sport claims that Kovacic is Brendan Rodgers’s first-choice midfield target and that the Premier League club will return with a second offer.
Although it might take a sum of £21.3m for the Anfield club to persuade Inter to sell the 21-year-old.
AC Milan are also thought to be keen on Kovacic, but Inter would be heavily reluctant to sell to their local rivals and therefore Liverpool are seemingly in pole position.
Rodgers is reportedly looking at Real Madrid’s Asier Illarramendi as a possible alternative.
