Chilean midfielder set for move to Anfield in the summer.
Liverpool are set to sign Chilean international midfielder Manuel Iturra on a free transfer in the summer, according to the Sunday People.
Iturra has rejected the offer of a new contract to stay at La Liga side Malaga and is free to leave the Spanish outfit at the end of the season with Liverpool understood to be in pole position to secure his signature.
The 28-year-old only joined Malaga at the start of the season when given a one-year deal to prove himself in La Liga, and the Spanish side may come to regret their decision with Iturra expected to leave on a free transfer.
He had spent the majority of his career playing in his homeland before spending a season in Portugal at Uniao Leiria and then being loaned to Murcia in Spain. He joined Malaga last summer after having his contract at Uniao Leiria terminated and has impressed in La Liga.
It appears Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has earmarked Iturra as a candidate to strengthen his squad at Anfield, with Blackpool’s midfielder Tom Ince, Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes and Swansea City defender Ashley Williams also thought to be on his shopping list.
