The Italian international joined Juve from cross city rivals Torino back in 2013, but since Massimiliano Allegri took over at the start of the season he has found himself out of favour at the club.
He is still under contract with the Serie A champions until 2018, but the Reds have several defensive problems that could prompt them to make a bid over the coming months.
The 26-year-old had previously been tipped to be a big presence in the Juve defence, but thanks to the form of Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli he hasn’t been able to make the kind of impact expected of him.
Tottenham are also said to be weighing up a move for his signature, but with the Reds’ more pressing needs Brendan Rodgers will be favourite to make the first move.
