The Reds could sign the 12 cap German at the nearest possible opportunity.
Liverpool have been linked with German international left-back Dennis Aogo, and could make a move for the 26-year-old when the transfer window opens in January, reports The Daily Mirror.
The fullback, who has been capped 12 times by his country, is currently on loan at Schalke from Hamburg, and could be available for as little as £2.5m.
Liverpool currently have Aly Cissokho as a backup option for first-choice left-back Jose Enrique. Cissokho is powerful, but lacks any real technical ability, and Enrique has suffered badly with injuries this term.
Aogo is very technically accomplished. So much so – he is often deployed as a holding midfielder in Germany. Like Enrique, Aogo provides a regular attacking outlet up the left flank, but is defensively solid as well.
His ability to pass the football and link up play should suit Liverpool perfectly, and he should be able to adapt to Brendan Rodgers’ swift, fluid footballing mentality quickly.
The German has made nine starts in the Bundesliga, and assisted three goals so far. He’s picked up four yellow cards, but has an impressive 86% passing accuracy. He wins 70% of his aerial duels, and has only been dribbled by opponents eight times this season.
If Hamburg were willing to loan Aogo, they’ll surely be willing to sell him – although Schalke could be in pole position as the player is already at the club on loan. Finances are available for the Reds, and at £2.5m, it looks as though they could be picking up a real bargain.
