Manager Jesus has revealed that Rodgers wants Rodrigo.
Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in signing £25m rated striker Rodrigo.
The forward has been attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League and scouts from Chelsea, Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion have all been to watch the 23-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.
Yet it seems the Reds are leading the race to sign the Brazilian born attacker as Jesus reveals that interest is rife in the Spaniard.
“It’s normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window,” the 59-year-old was said.
“The league is full of high quality players so it’s normal for other clubs to be interested.
“Rodrigo is going through a good moment.”
Those with good memories may remember Rodrigo’s brief spell in England previously, when as a 17-year-old the Spain under-23 international spent 21 games on-loan at Bolton Wanderers, scoring just once.
A lot has changed since then however and this term alone the striker has 13 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Benfica.
Rodrigo is a product of the Real Madrid youth system, but never played a senior game for the Spanish giants before moving to Lisbon in 2010.
Since then the Spanish star has scored 40 times in 104 matches, with the ability to also play as a No.10 and out on the left wing.
Brendan Rodgers is desperate for attacking support at Anfield as despite the Merseysiders’ great form this campaign, their squad looks a little weak.
Previously the Northern Irishman has failed in attempts to sign Willian, Mohamed Salah and Yevhen Konoplyanka and will be hoping Rodrigo doesn’t slip away as well.
