Agger is determined to earn a first team place with the Reds once again.
It’s been a difficult season for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger so far, as the Dane has been dropped from the first team and has watched an influx of new stars be bought in.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a reunion with former Reds manager Rafael Benitez, who is now in charge of Napoli.
However, Agger insists that there is no truth in the speculation and that Anfield is where the centre-back wants to be.
“I can’t do anything about the rumours [of a move to Napoli], but there is no point spending any time on them,” the Denmark international was quoted by the Mirror.
“I’m not thinking about moving, not at all. There is no reason to believe the rumours. I have been out of the team at times this season, but I have been unlucky.”
Agger has played 13 matches in all competitions this term, but has struggled with injuries and was forced off during the FA Cup Third Round victory over Oldham Athletic at the weekend.
Despite initially thinking the problem was just a muscle strain, but it has since emerged that the issue is actually a tear and that it will keep the vice-captain out of action for another month.
With the likes of Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure arriving in the summer, along with Martin Skrtel already being at the club, it’s little wonder competition for places is so fierce.
