Liverpool could snap up MK Dons prodigal young attacker Dele Alli this winter transfer window, according to the Mirror.
Brendan Rodgers went to watch the 17-year-old against Wigan in the FA Cup on Saturday, and would have been impressed with the midfielder’s comfort on the ball and his willingness to get forward.
Dons boss Karl Robinson has lauded praise on Alli’s performance, claiming he has the potential to be a special footballer.
“You’ve seen Dele and he’s special. Yeah, he did some silly things but he’s 17 years of age. He did bits of magic too,” he said.
“You don’t see many 17-year-olds playing in an FA Cup third round against a very good Wigan side and not looking out of place.
“I’m very proud of his development.”
Robinson has also admitted a relationship with Rodgers which could help ease transfer negotiations.
“I know Brendan quite well and we speak about different players all the time,” he added.
Liverpool signed young English winer Seyi Ojo from MK Dons back in 2011, and have proven over the last couple of years that they are more than willing to invest in talented youth from the lower leagues. The Reds bought Raheem Sterling from QPR and Jordon Ibe from Wycombe, and both have made appearances for the first-team, with the former a full England international already.
