Brendan Rodgers surprisingly wants to sign League One centre-back in January…
Liverpool want to sign League One defender James Tarkowski who currently plies his trade for Oldham Athletic, reports the Daily Star.
The 21-year-old made his debut for the minnows back in 2011, and has made 65 first-team appearances already, scoring five goals.

According to the report, the Reds are readying a £2m offer for Tarkowski, and would be willing to offer a youth player in exchange as part of the deal too.
Oldham boss Lee Johnson is desperate to hold on to the young defender, but is surely aware that his club will not be able to to if Liverpool are serious about their interest.
“I want to keep him. He is a good player and hopefully he will not go,” Johnson said, whose Oldham outfit currently sit just three points above the drop zone.
It seems a strange deal for Liverpool, who already have Daniel Agger, Kolo Toure and summer signing Tiago Ilori struggling to make an impact on the first team, with Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho both performing admirably in the two centre-half spots.
