QPR’s Mbia dreams big after good loan spell at Sevilla.
Stephane Mbia, who is a transfer target for Premier League side Liverpool wants to play for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea instead.
The Cameroon enforcer has come off a very influential loan spell at Europa League winners Sevilla last season, and has set his sights on playing in the Champions League soon.
While Liverpool can offer the midfielder the chance to play among Europe’s elite instantly, the recently out of contract QPR man wants to stay in Seville for the moment and grab the opportunity of playing under his favourite coach Jose Mourinho if and when it comes his way.
“My dream is to be coached by Mourinho and I hope will become a reality in the future,” Mbia was quoted by the Daily Star.
“I want to play in the Champions League in the future even though I’d stick to Sevilla because they have done a lot for me.
“Next year I want to try to win something, maybe the Champions League, but I do not know where.”
Mbia’s Mourinho fantasy comes as a bizarre kind of a blow for the Reds, who had hoped that they could land the free-agent this summer, and Kop boss Brendan Rodgers must now look at other options to strengthen the central midfield area in his team.
