In what seems a hugely ambitious move, Liverpool could try and sign Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema if they qualify for the Champions League this season, reports the Metro.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will look to sign world-class players this summer if the his side manage to finish in the top four, and the French forward has emerged as a realistic £25m possibility.
Benzema has scored a solid 16 goals in 28 appearances in both La Liga and the Champions League this term, but fans of Los Blancos are still uncertain if the 26-year-old has the pedigree to lead the line ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Liverpool though already have two top notch forwards in Luis Suarez (arguably the best player in the Premier League) and Daniel Sturridge, who has bagged 16 goals in 16 appearances this season. With Benzema, Rodgers could put out a scintillating three-pronged attack, or rotate the excellent strikers much like Manchester City do.
Reds fans though will be desperate that Suarez doesn’t head to Madrid as part of the deal. The Uruguayan has established himself as one of the best players in the world this season, but the supporters hope Champions League football will warn off any potential suitors.
