How the west Londoners rated from a vital victory at Anfield.
The Premier League title race has been blown wide open as Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield to narrow the gap at the top to two points.
Jose Mourinho got the better of former understudy Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside as a defensive approach conquered the usually rampant Reds.
Here’s how the Blues rated.
Mark Schwarzer – 6
In the absence of Petr Cech due to a dislocated shoulder the veteran filled in well, making some solid saves and looking comfortable between the sticks without ever really being tested.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 8
A brilliant performance from the Spaniard who is having a fantastic year, whether that is at right-back or left-back and kept Raheem Sterling quiet all afternoon.
Ashley Cole – 7
Rolling back the years the England international put uncharacteristically poor displays earlier in the season behind him to defend in a disciplined style.
Branislav Ivanovic – 7
Usually used at right-back the Serbian was required to move centrally in the absence of John Terry, Gary Cahill and David Luiz and was as reliable as ever in keeping old rival Luis Suarez quiet.
Tomas Kalas – 6
A reasonable league debut for the youngster although looked shaky at times and was lucky to have such experienced support around him.
