Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has earmarked a potential move for the phenomenally talented Belgian winger Zakaria Bakkali, talkSPORT reports.
The teenager scored a wonderful hat-trick on the opening day of the season for PSV, declaring his prodigal ability to the footballing world.
Since then, he’s been used sparingly by his Dutch club, but it appears unlikely they’ll be able to keep hold of the full Belgium international for much longer.
Rodgers likes working with young players, and Bakkali fits the blueprint of the kind of wide player he likes, perfectly. The winger is extremely quick, a wonderful dribbler, and demands the ball at every opportunity. He’s shown he can score goals, and has the technical ability to play teammates through on goal rather than just running at his fullback, much like Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
The Northern Irish boss has proved with his handling of Raheem Sterling that he’s willing to play young players in crucial positions, so if Bakkali did arrive at Anfield, he could be given the opportunity to flourish with the Reds.
