Barcelona and Liverpool are on the verge of agreeing a whopping £80 million deal for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, reports the Daily Mail. Both the clubs’ officials apparently held productive talks over the transfer after FIFA confirmed that Suarez could be transferred despite his 4 month ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.
Despite earlier reports suggesting a potential swap deal also involving Barca forward Alexis Sanchez, Barcelona are reportedly looking to work out a straight cash deal for the Uruguayan. Although Suarez has not publicly expressed his desire to move to Spain to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid since the start of the summer, the 27-year old is believed to be keen on a switch to the Camp Nou to play with the World’s best players.
Barca’s intention to complete the deal was indicated by the public backing of Suarez by their club Director Andoni Zubizarreta after the former Ajax man issued an apology to Chiellini on Twitter. Reports suggest that the Catalan giants might not be too far away from finalizing a deal for their top transfer target and the move could happen as early as the next 48 hours.
