Reds want to snap up 6ft 8″ African forward…
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is desperate to strengthen his squad in January, and has earmarked giant 6ft. 8″ Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore as a top target, reports the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old Ivorian hitman has been with the Russian side since joining in 2012 for €18m, and has done relatively well, scoring 13 league goals in 28 appearances.
Anzhi are currently in financial plight though, and are trying desperately to offload their star operators. Chelsea acquired both Willian and Samuel Eto’o over the summer, while Russian rivals Dynamo Moscow bought seven of their players.
Traore could be available for between £10m and £15m, which seems steep for a player who would surely be only used as an option from the bench. In Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, the Reds have two of the best strikers in the Premier League, and their excellent understanding of each other has helped the Reds win their past two matches with ease, scoring five goals between them.
Traore though, would offer a more physical, aerial threat for Brendan Rodgers, and would also provide a good standard replacement should one of his star strike duo pick up an injury or a suspension (as Suarez in particular is more than capable of).
