Luis Suarez’s farcical transfer saga…
The Luis Suarez transfer saga 2013:
-Receives a ten match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at the end of the 2012/13 season, and is branded as an animal and a cheat by the English press.
-Heads back home to Uruguay, where he quickly releases comments in the South American press that he hates living in England because of intense media bullying. Suarez also states that he ideally wants to move to Real Madrid.
-Liverpool react by assuring fans that the Uruguayan striker will not be leaving the club this summer, and that he remains an integral part of their plans.
-Arsenal bid £30m for Suarez, which Liverpool reject out of hand.
-Reports indicate a clause in the striker’s contract exists, and Arsenal lodge a bid of £40m plus £1 for the striker!
-Liverpool owner J.W Henry is perplexed by the offer, and asks Arsenal via Twitter, ‘What are they smoking down at the Emirates?’
What do you think they’re smoking over there at Emirates?

-Liverpool insist there is no clause, promising fans that there is no way they would sell the striker to a Premier League side.
-Manager Brendan Rodgers indicates that if the club were to sell the Uruguayan forward, he would cost closer to the £55m Edinson Cavani cost PSG.
-Liverpool fans give Suarez an outstanding reception during Steven Gerrard’s testimonial, but the striker seems uninterested, and refuses to turn up to the presentation dinner that evening.
-Luis Suarez releases a scathing attack on Liverpool in an interview with national newspapers which he organised himself. The striker claimed that the club promised him a transfer away from the club, and he had no intentions of playing for them any more as they are not in the Champions League. Suarez also referred to Brendan Rodgers as a liar, which was seemingly the nail in the coffin of his Liverpool future.
-Brendan Rodgers and J.W Henry still maintain that the striker will not be sold this window, as there wasn’t enough time to find an adequate replacement.
-The manager demands Luis Suarez apologises to the club and the fans, and forces the 26-year-old to train by himself away from the group until he fixes his attitude.
-Suarez reportedly refuses to apologise, with Arsenal set to launch a final bid of £52m.
–Reports in Uruguay start to emerge that Luis Suarez has performed a dramatic U-turn, and will stay at Liverpool because of the fantastic support he has felt from fans all summer! He is now expected to sign a new deal at Anfield…
