The French beast’s physical style suits the Premier League perfectly…
Liverpool’s marquee summer signing Mamadou Sakho has admitted he is enjoying the physical style of English football, he told Liverpool’s official website.
Sakho arrived for £18m from Ligue 1 champions PSG on summer transfer deadline day, and has started playing well after a nervy start.
The 23-year-old’s improving form has earned him a recall to the France squad, and he seems to be settling into life at Anfield superbly.
“I’m very happy and proud to discover the Premier League and especially playing in the Liverpool shirt. I play with great pride, I’m proud to be here,” said the centre-half.
“It’s a fairly physical style of football; there’s a lot of impact and a lot of contact in tackles. I don’t mind that,” he added.
Sakho is physically imposing, and is rarely ever beaten in the air. He has established himself a spot in Brendan Rodgers’ 5-3-2 formation, playing on the left of a back three. Sakho knows though that he must maintain his level of performance, with Daniel Agger waiting in the wings.
“It’s something I appreciated before I came here and I’m used to now. I think I can continue to play the way I do, to help bring Liverpool great wins,” Sakho continued.
Liverpool currently sit in joint second place, and could go to the top of the table at the weekend if they beat West Brom at home and other results go their way.
