Both Tottenham and Arsenal eyeing summer move for Belgian ace.
Tottenham have reportedly made Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke their No.1 summer transfer target, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The Belgian international has been in sensational form this season, helping Villa avoid slipping further into a relegation dogfight with both his goals and overall contribution to the team with his commanding presence up front.
While their future remains unresolved ahead of the season finale clash against Wigan, Spurs and north London rivals Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in acquiring the 22-year-old.
Benteke joined Paul Lambert’s side in a £7m deal from Genk last summer, and has gone on to score over 20 goals in all competitions this season.
It is reported that Villa have no intention of selling their most prized asset, but should the player wish to leave they would want almost three times what they paid for him and will sell for no less than £20m.
Initial speculation suggests that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is set on adding a striker to his squad this summer, with the unpredictability of Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe not enough to make certain of their place in the Champions League for next season.
However, it is also reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would also like to add the Belgian to the Gunners squad, and is prepared to spend to secure his man.
Much is made of their trophy-drought which now stretches to eight year, and rumours suggest Wenger believes Benteke is the man to help end it and bring some much anticipated success to the Emirates.
