FAS attempts to control downward spiral
It’s been a tough few weeks if you are a Red Giants fan, three dismal performances in the Cup followed by the resignation of coach Bakti.
And should Selangor lose to Sime Darby today, things may get a whole lot worse.
Selangor only finished three points behind Champions Lions XII in the Super League, but have embarked on a poor run of form in the Malaysia Cup.
Should they lose for a second time to group Leaders Sime Darby then quarter-final qualification begins to look very difficult indeed.
Assistant manager P Maniam has taken control and faces the task of steadying the Selangor ship.
One point from four games is not an acceptable return for the 32 times Malaysia Cup Winners.
Speaking to Goal Malaysia Vice President of the Football Association of Selangor Mokhtar Ahmad said he would only be taking things one step at a time “for the time being, he only wants to focus on preparing the team for their next opponents
“He sung praises of the team and the good work that has been done by their coach Ismail Zakaria; a former Selangor coach himself, and the way the team played.”
Though Mokhtar Ahmad seems to be doing a reasonable job of controlling the anger felt by the club’s sudden loss of form.
Should the Red Giants not return to winning ways soon, it may be that his head is the next one onto the chopping block.
