Paul has sparked speculation after not committing future to Clippers.
In the midst of helping the Los Angeles Clippers challenge in the Western Conference, star man Chris Paul has admitted he hasn’t decided what he’s doing next season.
Paul, arguably the best point guard in the league, is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season, and has revealed he has yet to make a decision regarding his future.
As reported by T.J. Simers of The Sacramento Bee, Paul said: “No, I haven’t decided what I am going to do next season, and no, I haven’t told anyone what I’m going to do.”
His statement comes just a week after Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that the All-Star Game MVP was planning on re-signing with the Clippers.
Paul is having a fantastic season in LA, with his partnership with big man Blake Griffin proving not only fruitful, but thoroughly entertaining.
The Clippers are challenging the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference, and are beginning to look like potential contenders for the championship.
Led by Paul who continues to control proceedings on the court, he is averaging 16 points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals while shooting 48% from the field.
Furthermore, he is the catalyst and orchestrator behind the ‘Lob City’ offense that has become synonymous with the Clippers this season.
Ultimately, the decision will be down to Paul in the off-season and it may well be affected by how the team performs for the remainder of the year.
The Clippers will be desperate to not lose their star player, and will likely offer him a huge deal in order for him to extend his stay at the Staples Center.
However, for now both Paul and the Clippers appear fully focused on challenging this season and are in a good position to do so come play-off time.
