The Los Angeles Clippers staged an incredible comeback in Game 4 to level this series with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but can they repeat the trick on the road?
The rivalry is heating up between these two Western Conference giants, with personal battles and general dislike becoming more evident with each game.
In a series that has already had 15 individual technical fouls, things continue to get interesting as the Clippers travel to Oklahoma City looking to grab a vital road win in Game 5.
Kevin Durant has revealed that he is frustrated with the way that the Clippers are defending against him, Russell Westbrook insists that they are flopping and Doc Rivers has come to the defence of Blake Griffin who he believes isn’t getting all the calls he deserves.
Nevertheless, having put point guard Chris Paul on defensive duty with Durant for lengthy periods last time out and with double teams to support him, the Clippers may have found a way of at least slowing down the league MVP.
Durant is averaging 31.1 points and 8.9 rebounds in this series, and while he and Westbrook continue to play an influential role, the Clippers found the spirit within to produce a remarkable comeback on Sunday with a 38-24 run in the fourth quarter to get themselves right back into the series.
Serge Ibaka will play on Tuesday despite his apparent low blow on Griffin after the league judged it to be inadvertent, and although Durant and Westbrook have been outstanding in this series, the Thunder ultimately fall short when those around them fail to step up.
Rivers insists that he will not continue to assume that the smaller line-up he adopted in the fourth quarter on Sunday will be successful again moving forward, but it does promise to be another intriguing battle between him and Scott Brooks on the sidelines.
