Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal apparently made a move for now Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas over the summer as he was not convinced by the abilities of David de Gea, according to the Metro.

Van Gaal was said to have been unimpressed by the in-form Spanish international at the beginning of the campaign, and ha looked to bring in a replacement.
De Gea has since been heavily linked with a return to Spain recently, with Real Madrid said to be leading the charge, though talks of a new United deal have also been in the works.
Having been impressed by his performances for Costa Rica at the World Cup, Van Gaal was reportedly keen on striking a deal to bring him to Old Trafford before the start of the campaign.
