Most notably, the Spanish international is being linked to a move to Real Madrid, but Man United manager Louis van Gaal remains confident that De Gea will remain with the club.
“I believe still that David De Gea shall stay,” van Gaal said to ESPN FC.
De Gea was named the Manchester United player of the year for the second consecutive season, so losing him would obviously be a major loss for the Red Devils.
The Man United goalie’s contract is scheduled to run out in 2016, and re-signing him will be essential to the team’s future as they are looking to climb back into Premier League title contention.
Man United is currently in fourth place, and a finish there appears to be their fate right now as they have one match left and are three points behind the third-place Arsenal.
The Red Devils have already made a compelling offer to their goalie, so his return now comes down to his desire to do so.
