Manchester United recently signed a new four-year deal to goalkeeper David de Gea at Old Trafford, and manager Louis van Gaal is expected to follow suit.
According to the Daily Star, the Man United manager was planning to retire after his contract expired in 2017. However, he is now ready to discuss a new deal at the end of the year.
Van Gaal has endured mild controversy throughout the season, as Man United players are reported to be unhappy with his coaching methods and his strict, no-nonsense philosophy.
De Gea has been among these players, as indicated by his desire to leave for Real Madrid at the transfer deadline.
This deal collapsed in shocking fashion after paperwork was submitted past the deadline, which rendered Man United and Real Madrid unable to do business with each other.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been welcomed back with open arms though, and he resumed his post as the No.1 goalkeeper in Man United’s 3-1 road victory over Liverpool.
Van Gaal and de Gea both claim that they have a stable relationship, and it seems as though Man United are getting back on the right track.
