Van Gaal also keen to land Gaitan.
Manchester United are set to agree a deal to sign Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan, reports the Daily Star.
The 26-year old midfielder has been perennially linked with the Red Devils over the last few years, but reports suggest that they may be in for real for Gaitan this time around.
United’s new boss Louis van Gaal is also said to be a big fan of Gaitan and wants him in his team before he returns from the 2014 World Cup and assumes full charge of the English giants.
The Dutch manager’s decisiveness is believed to be pushing the move through for Gaitan, whose versatile qualities make him capable of filling-in in any role behind the striker.
In order to smoothen dealings, it is reported that United are also willing to offer one of their forgotten men in Bebe in exchange for Gaitan.
Although 23-year old Bebe made just two league appearances for the Red Devils so far, his loan spell at Pacos de Ferreira was fruitful and is thus a wanted man in Portugal.
