The future boss wants Roma’s Strootman.
Future Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is keen on signing AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman as the next ‘Roy Keane’, reports the Daily Mirror.
Van Gaal believes that the Red Devils need a strong physical presence in midfield and thinks that Strootman can fit into the role of a commanding enforcer perfectly at Old Trafford.
The Roma man is currently recuperating from a long term knee problem and will miss out on this year’s World Cup in Brazil – but he is expected to be fit by August.
United’s previous boss David Moyes had also targeted Strootman last summer, but the 24-year old chose to move to Roma instead.
Van Gaal sees the former PSV Eindhoven star as a perfect alternative for Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, who could prove to be hard to prise away from the Allianz Arena.
