Head coach Rick Pitino has announced that forward Montrezl Harrell will skip his senior season and enter the NBA Draft.
Harrell had decided to return for his junior season in 2014 despite being a first-round prospect, and he was rewarded for his decision as he averaged 15.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
Although his field goal percentage fell, it remained high at 56.6 percent, and it’s worth remembering how hard it is to replicate a season with a 60.9 shooting percentage.
He is expected to be drafted later in the first round since there is plenty of superior talent, such as Duke’s Jahlil Okafor and Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns.
His future as an NBA big man is also questionable, due to his height(6’8″) being a disadvantage if he plays power forward.
Harrell was second in scoring for the Cardinals, as point guard Terry Rozier led them with 17.1 points per game while averaging three assists.
Rozier is also going to enter the NBA Draft, and he is expected to go in the second round since his upside as an NBA point guard is limited.
