Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson is lining up an audacious attempt to sign out-of-favour Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.
The Republic of Ireland international has struggled for first-team opportunities at White Hart Lane over the past two seasons resulting in loan spells to Celtic and last season West Ham.
The 31-year-old is expected to move on before the transfer window closes as Spurs look to get his high wages off their books.
Leicester have been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing 11 players in over the course of the close season, and are now believed to be considering a £3millon bid for Keane.
Eriksson is eager to add a proven goalscorer to his Foxes squad offer the Irishman a lucrative new salary to to tempt in to a Championship move.
“I always said if we can get a striker with a good goalscoring record, we are going to try,” explained Eriksson.
“If there is a proven striker who can score 20 goals, then we’ll work hard to bring him in.”
