Forlan tried to convince the Uruguayan to head to Old Trafford.
Liverpool star Luis Suarez has had a brilliant season with the club but it was Manchester United that national team-mate Diego Forlan told the striker to join.
Forlan spent two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford before leaving for Villarreal in 2007 and the Uruguayan suggested Suarez should follow in his footsteps.

“When Liverpool made him an offer. Of course, I told him he should join Manchester United,” the 34-year-old was quoted by the Daily Star.
“But I also spoke well of Liverpool and their history.
“He loves playing at Liverpool. He likes the Premier League – and the fans love him because he’s a striker’s striker.”
Suarez has been in superb form this term and has already netted 29 Premier League goals in just 28 appearances.
The 27-year-old has been with the Reds since January 2011 after a £22.8m transfer from Ajax and since then has greatly impressed in England.

Suarez appears to have put that side of his game behind him now though and is almost certain to win both the league’s Golden Boot award and be crowned PFA Player of the Year.
This success has attracted the interest of clubs such as Real Madrid, but with the Merseysiders looking as if they could win the league the Uruguay international could well stay for a while longer.
