Clarke is looking into bringing Moses to the Hawthorns.
Despite having little playing time of yet, West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke says Romelu Lukaku won’t be returning to Birmingham, but that Chelsea’s Victor Moses might.
Lukaku spent last season on-loan with the Baggies and was hugely impressive, top-scoring for the side with 17 Premier League goals which included a hat-trick against Manchester United in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game in charge.
Yet Clarke has admitted that the Belgian will not be coming to the Hawthorns again this term, but the Scot says Moses is a possibility.
“Lukaku? I don’t think so. I’ve not spoken to anyone recently about Lukaku but I exchanged text messages with Jose [Mourinho] about three or four weeks ago,” the 50-year-old told the Birmingham Mail.
“He said Lukaku definitely won’t be going out and I think he’s right.
“Moses is available to come out and he’s a player we would be interested in.”
Chelsea are open to selling Fernando Torres as well due to Eto’o’s arrival.
With the arrival of Andre Schurrle and Willian this summer, the Blues’ total number of attacking midfielders has increased to seven and Moses is unlikely to get much game time.
The 22-year-old was a £10m signing from Wigan Athletic 12 months ago and the Nigerian went on to be instrumental in the club’s Europa League triumph.
Moses played six matches in the competition and scored four goals, which included a strike in the semi-finals that helped the west London side overcome FC Basel.
Yet with the Nigeria international failing to even make it onto the bench in any of Chelsea’s three matches so far this term, it may be that the winger needs to leave Stamford Bridge to get first team football.
