Manchester United are confident Luke Shaw will miss just six months following his horror leg break on Tuesday night, according to reports.
Shaw was tackled by PSV defender Hector Moreno and looked to be in immediate trouble as Moreno signalled right away for medical help for the England international.
The 20-year-old suffered a double leg fracture and required oxygen as he was stretchered off the pitch at the Phillips Stadium.
After a tough 2014-15 season, the former Southampton man has been one of United’s key players this term, and The Mirror reports United officials are hoping the youngster can make a return in six months.
Such an injury generally results in a 10-month lay-off, but the report suggests it was a “clean break”.
United currently sit third on the Premier League table and will face Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.
